10/16 Palestinian/Israeli Non-violent Movement Speaking Tour

Dear NAAP-NY,

Continuing with our Palestine Lecture Series, NAAP-NY's Political Committee invites you to attend an event focusing on grass-roots nonviolent resistance to the Israeli occupation.

Co-sponsored with the International Solidarity Movement-NYC (ISM-NYC), Salam Arabic Lutheran Church and the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee of NY (ADC-NY), we are excited to have two prominent organizers, Ayed Morrar and Jonathan Pollak, share their experiences, tactics and strategies in the face of an ever brutal occupation.

What: A National Speaking Tour on the Non-Violent Resistance to Israeli Occupation with Ayed Morrar and Jonathan Pollack

When: Sunday, October 16th, 2:00PM

Where: Salam Arabic Lutheran Church, 345 Ovington Ave. (between 3rd and 4th Ave), Brooklyn

Speakers: Ayed Morrar and Jonathan Pollak are friends and among the major figures in the Palestinian led, nonviolent struggle against Israel's military occupation. Largely unreported by the media, thousands of Palestinians and hundreds of Israelis are waging a major grassroots nonviolent campaign of resistance to the construction of Israel's Wall. Palestinian farmers, workers, mothers, and students, are braving tear-gas, beatings, bullets, arrest, and even death to block the construction of the Wall with their bodies. Ruled illegal by the International Court of Justice in 2004, the Wall appropriates Palestinian land and destroys villages for more Israeli settlements. In a victory for nonviolence, Ayed led his community of Budrus in a peaceful campaign of 50 protest marches to stop the construction of the Wall on Budrus land. Jonathan has participated in over 200 West Bank protests and has helped mobilize hundreds of Israelis to join Palestinians in resisting the Wall. Both Ayed and Jonathan have been imprisoned for their prominent roles in the nonviolent movem! ent.

Please join us as these courageous individuals share their experiences with us.
