NJ Community Outreach Forum 5/1/04
In the aftermath of September 11th, Arabs and Muslims in our community have
been confronted with increased discrimination, racially motivated crimes,
defamation by public figures and a severe breach of civil liberties in the
name of national security.
In these troubling times, our voices need to be heard ... our concerns
expressed ... and our issues addressed!
This Saturday May 1st, NAAP-NY is proud to be endorsing an important event,
the New Jersey Community Outreach Initiative, aimed at promoting an open
dialogue between Arab and Muslim communities of New Jersey and State and
Federal agencies. The panel will include representatives from INS, FBI, The
Governor's Office, Department of Justice, US Attorney's office, Attorney
General's office, State Police, Civil Rights Division, Bias Crimes Division,
and Local County officials.
This endeavor is made possible through the cooperation of a number of
community organizations, including: ADC-NJ - American-Arab
Anti-Discrimination Committee (NJ Chapter); CAIR-NJ - Council on American
Islamic Relations (NJ Chapter); PAC - Palestinian American Congress; IEC -
North Hudson Islamic Education Center; NJCG - New Jersey Culture Group;
NJOG- New Jersey Outreach Group; and AJMA - American Jewish Muslim Alliance.
