Organization
NAAP-Boston
functions through the work of various committees, each of which is tasked with
specific and well-defined objectives that are in agreement with NAAP's overall
mission statement. Any member of NAAP-Boston is welcome to join one or more
committees. Each committee has a volunteer chairperson. The chairperson is
responsible for ensuring that the committee remains active and updating other
committees and all members of upcoming activities. There are currently ten
committees, though this may change depending on the needs of the group and
community.
The general meeting is the forum by which NAAP-Boston
decisions are made and where YOUR concerns, ideas, and goals will be heard.
Ideas for NAAP-Boston initiatives are discussed and voted on at the general
meeting, typically held once a month on Thursday evenings at a local university
or restaurant. All members of NAAP-Boston are encouraged to attend the general
meeting to become more involved with the planning of the organization's
activities. We need as much input as possible to make these events happen for
our community.
Information regarding meetings and events is disseminated
to the group through a weekly email.
Individual committee meetings will periodically be announced through this
email in order to keep all members informed of NAAP organizational activities
and encourage all members to become involved at any time. A separate, optional NAAP discussion list
exits to allow the efficient discussion of new ideas, events and issues at a
higher frequency than the monthly general meetings allow. The purpose of this list is solely to
facilitate dialogue between members. No
voting or final decisions occur through the list.
The
committees have been established to ensure that all projects are completed,
however, NAAP is the power of a collective vision. You may focus on one committee, focus on all
ten, or start your own committee. The
intention of NAAP is to serve as an umbrella under which a body of individuals
with diverse educational and professional backgrounds and experiences can
organize their resources and take the initiative to shape the future.
