Volunteer Opportunity at Ronald McDonald House
Hello NAAP-NY!
Are you interested in volunteering and giving back to the community, but
lack the time to do so? On the evening of Saturday, February 4th, you have
the opportunity to volunteer at the local Ronald McDonald House (RMH),
spending a few hours putting a smile on the faces of young children and
their family members.
A group of 15 volunteers will cook a light dinner for the families currently
staying at the RMH, mingle and play games with the children. This effort
will only require two and a half hours of your time, but it means the world
to them.
The Ronald McDonald House program began in 1974 and has now established over
245 houses in 26 countries. The program provides a home for families of
seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals and serves as
a temporary residence where the children and family members can stay.
Families are provided a place to eat, sleep and find support from other
families in similar situations. It is a free service to those who cannot
afford to pay for costly hotel or hospital stays. As a result, the Houses
are reliant upon donations and volunteer support from others.
