Tax Day Event with SUSTAIN 4/15/03
SUSTAIN NYC (Stop U.S. Tax Funded Aid to Israel) has been preparing a
national campaign over the last few months to raise the issue of U.S Aid to
Israel directly to the U.S tax payer on April 15th. A decision has been
made within the NAAP-Political Committee to support this awareness project
and to endorse it.
The project entails handing out the '1040WAR' flyer at and around post
offices and libraries leading up to and on April 15th (below is the call to

We ask for NAAP-NY members to volunteer in their neighborhoods!

Below is the SUSTAIN NYC call for action.

On April 15, tax day, Americans should think about how our tax money is
spent in ways that result in death, misery and destruction all over the
world.
On April 15, we will visit post offices in New York City and hand out our
mock 1040WAR tax form. This form illustrates how a huge portion of our
taxes is used to pay for an outrageous military in the U.S. and Israel and
for repression in Palestine. We will talk with fellow taxpayers about US
budget priorities and our complicity in the horrors perpetrated in our name.
At 6:00PM we will converge on the steps of the central post office on 8th
Ave. near 32nd, to call for an end to U.S. tax-funded aid to Israel, and a
reordering of our budget priorities. We will have banners and signs, and
distribute our mock tax forms, taking advantage of the press that is always
at the main post office on tax day.
SUSTAIN NYC calls for volunteers to copy and/or distribute the 1040WAR
fliers on April 15th. We also encourage people to leave forms at libraries
and other places were tax forms are available before April 15.
SUSTAIN NYC calls for other groups all over the United States to use the
1040WAR form to replicate this action all over the United States. Please
keep us informed of your plans so we can mention you on the action web page
and include you in press releases.
