NAAP-NY FREE Student Workshops - 9/16

Dear Students and Members,

The summer is over and the new school year is finally upon us. Now is the perfect time to identify your personal and student group goals and strategies for the upcoming academic year. And for some of you, it is also the time to begin the process of applying to graduate school.

To further support your successes on campus, NAAP-NY has organized two FREE student workshops on Saturday, September 16th.

Workshop #1: How to Apply to Graduate School
Open to Juniors, Seniors and recent college graduates. This workshop will provide students with an overview of the graduate school application process: For example, how to find the right school for you, financial aid information, scholarship information, early decision options, and personal statement writing.

There will be smaller breakout sessions to advise students on the specifics of applying to Law School, Medical School, Business School, Engineering programs and P.H.D programs.

**If you are currently attending graduate school and feel you have valuable advice that you can offer to future applicants, please email NYprofessional@naaponline.org to participate in the workshop**

Workshop #2: Campus Activism Strategy Session
Open to all. Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors and first year Graduate Students are strongly encouraged to attend. This workshop will gather student leaders from regional schools to hammer out strategies and goals for the upcoming year. This will be accomplished through discussions, presentations and case studies by NAAP-NY members. Topics include:

- Arab Bashing on Campus: Hate Speech or Free Speech?
- Creative Ways to Discuss Foreign Policy Issues
- How to build diverse multi-religious memberships
- How to build Undergraduate/Graduate relationships
- School Administrators: Who to know

We ask that you RSVP for Workshop #2 by filling out the quick registration form at www.naaponline.org/ny/StudentWorkshop2006.doc and send to NYstudentaffairs@naaponline.org by September 13, 2006.

Arab-American students from all colleges and universities in the New York/New Jersey will be attending these two workshops! So we encourage you to attend, and get your friends involved! Please take a minute to forward this announcement to your student groups and friends.
