Arab Student Scholarship Fundraiser 4/29

Dear NAAP-NY,

On September 12, 2005, our community suffered a tragic loss. Nouran Khalil, NAAP-NY member and Pace University student, passed away after injuries sustained in a car accident while visiting family in Egypt. Nouran has moved on to a better place and leaves behind her legacy of faith, patience and wisdom.

In her memory and honor, Pace University has graciously set up a scholarship fund that will provide much needed financial support to undergraduate students of Arabic background at Pace University.

NAAP-NY's Student Affairs Committee invites you to join us on Saturday, April 29, as we celebrate Nouran's life and the launching of the Nouran Khalil Scholarship Fund with her family and friends and the Pace University Community. The evening will include Arabic music, dinner, and a *special* guest performance by Comedian Ronnie Khalil.

About Nouran Khalil & the Scholarship Fund:
Friends, family, and faculty all knew Nouran, a third-year student studying Marketing and Communications, as a bright, beautiful young woman. She was born in Alexandria, Egypt to Mohsen and Sanaa Khalil and raised in Montville, New Jersey. Nouran was quickly recognized by the students and faculty at Pace for her outstanding efforts as an active member of the Arab Alliance and compassionate volunteer for many charitable causes, including community initiatives, such as NAAP-NY's Cultural Fashion Show. Nouran took pride in all her roles; she was proud to be a Muslim, an Egyptian, an honors student, an entrepreneur, an employee, a friend, a daughter, a big sister, and a significant other. She was a woman of strength, courage, and wisdom.

The Nouran Khalil Scholarship Fund is a tribute to her dedication and devotion to Pace University, as well as her family, friends, community, and studies. Your donation, of any size, will not only honor Nouran, her wonderful spirit and amazing accomplishments over her short lifetime, but will also help Arab students become leaders in their studies, in their chosen fields and in the community.
