Join NAAP-NY at the 2nd Event In A Series that celebrates Arab Achievements.

Farrah Sarafa, a graduate student at Columbia University, will be giving this lecture, which will explore LITERARY achievements throughout the Middle East, followed by a Q&A discussion, that will include:

Literature from Across the Arab World

Islamic origins, motivations for writing

Tracing written tradition from classical to modern

Exemplary writers (Naguib Mahfouz, Mohammed Diab, and more)

Religious influences and resolution

Accessing the values, hopes and ambitions of the Arabs through literature

Translations of works from the classic to modern periods

Understanding the beauty of Arab heritage

Relating to several renowned Middle Eastern writers

Exploration of political resistance through literature
