We are excited and proud to announce our 2017-2018 NAAP Arab-American Scholarship Award winner is Noor Hillou! Noor’s exceptional record of student and community activism stood out among a strong list of applicants. Now in its 4th year, the NAAP Scholarship is designed to encourage and reward students who best reflect NAAP’s vision, mission, and goals. The application evaluation process is also a rewarding opportunity for us to learn more about the Arab-American community’s rising leaders, and which issues are of greatest importance to them. We are confident that Noor exemplifies what it means to be a strong Arab-American leader in today’s context.

Noor is a student at the University of Georgia, majoring in Genetics with a minor in Chinese. Following an anticipated graduation in 2020, Noor hopes to pursue medical school where they can specialize in genetics and pediatrics. One of Noor’s major goals is to provide healthcare to LGBTQ, refugee, and other marginalized communities. In addition to their academic pursuits, Noor is active both within and outside of the Arab-American community, building bridges during a time when it is most needed. Noor is a part of the executive board for Students for Justice in Palestine at the University of Georgia; a member of the Perspectives Diversity Advisory student board; and an active participant in the university’s IMPACT service programs. She exemplifies the NAAP mission of leadership, community engagement, and academic excellence.

Congratulations Noor, we are proud to count you as one of our scholarship recipients!

We would like to also extend our gratitude to the supporters of this year’s scholarship fund. Our scholarship would not be possible without the help of our community. Now, more than ever, it is important to support each other and our future Arab-American leaders who will form the pillars of our community. Please consider contributing to next year’s NAAP scholarship fund.
