War Resisters League (WRL) is committed not only to eliminating war, but the causes of war-causes intricately linked to the violence that pervades our society. We know that even where there seems to be "peace," the suffering of homelessness, hunger, lack of medical care, and poverty is as violent to those upon whom it is imposed as any war. We search for an answer to the violence in our society not in the building of more prisons, but in programs that bring help to those in need. The government centers its spending priorities on missiles and bombs despite the unmet needs of millions of desperate people. WRL works for peace within a framework of social justice:
